Rachel Pally
If you live in L.A. like I do, it's hard not to avoid samples sales especially if they are good deals to be had. So last Friday, I dropped by the Rachel Pally sample sale. It's my second time and this one did not disappoint.
I had been eyeing a 70s dress from the last sale but I did not get one since they did not have my size. Girls, you will be surprised that despite the clingy stretch fabric, the cuts are flattering and better yet, you get a size smaller than usual! That's what I found out anyway with the seventies/70s dress. It would have fit better if they had an XS (I'm usually a small or medium) but since I really wanted it, I settled for a small. Now doesn't that make you want to buy more? LOL!

So I got one in fudge (brown) for $70 (about 65% less than retail). They also had it in ginger (orange) and purple. F/W 05.
Then this one caught my eye:

One of the ladies was wearing one in black and white so I asked her where to get it. I ransacked the bin where all the two tone tops were and got this, also in fudge and F/W 05. It was only $60 down from the retail price of $175. They also had some in the pre-spring or cruise collection prints.
I tried on her famous Mexico dress as well but they had the same fudge, ginger and purple colors. So I passed with the intention of getting one at the next sample sale.
I only had an hour to spare. I could have probably bought more but since all sales are final, I wanted to make sure that what I got works with my current wardrobe. Now, if only they could arrange the clothes on the rack by style, then by color, it would speed up the time looking for a coveted item and I'd probably snatch up more. Until next time!

Win Shopping Sprees
Sign up for e-mail updates and win shopping sprees! Neiman Marcus offers a $2500 spree. Bloomingdales and Bergdorf ups the ante with $3000. Which one to choose? Why not all three! And add me to your list to increase your (and my) chances of winning. :-)
We all know it's a marketing ploy to get our e-mail addresses. But it's harmless info so it's a win-win situation, right? Now if only Saks and Barneys could join the fray. The more, the merrier I say!

Wooden Platforms
I have been lusting after Chloe wooden platform shoes since, oh, forever. Being not quite a shoe hag as a bag hag that I sometimes am, I could not imagine forking over $700 for a pair. But patience is virtue and I knew it wouldn’t be long before other brands would follow suit. And when I mean “other brands”, I mean the more affordable ones.
Lo and behold, while on a lunch time shopping spree yesterday, I decided to drop by a store I hardly go to: Aldo. They had this chunky wooden shoe in just the right color. And the wooden heels were just right: not the hoe-like vampy ones that I’d rather stay away from. Drool! Unfortunately they only carry whole sizes and their smallest was a 7 (I’m a 5 1/2). Fortunately, their online website carries size 5s and 6s and at less than $100 a pair, I bought two! One to return later of course.
Mission accomplished!

Chevron
I am loving the chevron pattern right now. Here are a few of my current faves:

ANTHROPOLOGIE SIDECAR SWEATER
It all started when I saw this sweater. I love it!

ANTHROPOLOGIE CONFITERO SKIRT
It's not necessary to match the top with another chevron pattern. But if you must, this skirt complements the top perfectly.

MARC JACOBS CAROLINE
How could we forget Marc Jacobs?

BCBG MAX AZRIA SEQUIN CHEVRON SKIRT
This is a great skirt to go with the bag

TORY BURCH CANAFLECHA BRACELET
Cute with the skirt and the bag, but that's enough of the pattern in one outfit

GOYARD JEANNE PM
How could we forget the granddaddy of all chevron patterns? Goyard!
OK, you could say that the sweater, skirt and bracelet are in zigzag patterns. But you get what I'm trying to show, don't you?
